Rainbow Beach is arguably the best venue for a fishing tournament in Australia, which is hardly surprising considing Rainbow Beach & Fraser Island are Queenslands hottest tourist destinations. Fishing is one of the major draw cards to this area thanks to the pristine reefs, beaches and estuaries.
How do you enter?
All you need to do is fill in an entry form; 2011 Entry Form. You also need to be a social member of the Club as this covers all the insurance requirements. Package prices will be listed on the top of the 2011 Entry Form. Payments can be made by any major credit card, bank cheque, money order or personal cheque. Entry Fee is $105.00 per adult & $25.00 for children.
All adults, 18 years and over are required, for insurance purposes, to become members of the Rainbow Beach Sports Club. Children entering the competition, up to 18 years, must have an parent or guardian who is a member of the club representing them. The parent/Guardian's membership number must be provided on the entry form.
Fees stated on the entry form exclude social membership to the Club. The Social Membership form needs to be completed along with the fishing comp entry form. Social membership is $15.00.
Before entering, you must read the rules and conditions on page (2) of the entry form.
Once you have filled out your entry form and sent it in to us, allow 14 working days and a receipt will be forwarded. Membership Cards & Fishing Cards will not be sent in the mail, they will be available for pickup from 4.00pm Friday the 22nd of July.
REFUND POLICY:
The competitor is entitled to a full refund of fees paid, less $20 administration fee and agrees, that to be eligible for a refund of any nature an application for a refund must be submitted in writing to the Mitsubishi Motors Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Competition registrations Manager no later than 5.00pm Friday 1st July, 2011. Refund applications received after this date will be denied. The competitor accepts that should any fees arise by their financial institution as a result of a dishonored payment on a cheque or credit card debit, the competitor will be responsible for any such fees and will be ineligible to participate until such time as those fees are paid.
All entrants are open to fish in all Categories accept Children. Children are only permitted to fish in the Beach Fishing Category.
What can I fish for?
This year there are (12) categories, they are as follows.
Beach fish Category includes; Flathead, Bream, Dart, Whiting & Tailor. Jew Fish Category.
Reef fish category includes; Snapper, Red Emperor, Pearl Perch, Parrot, Sweet Lip.
Big Fish Category; for fish over 8kg and does NOT include any of the above species or Cod, Rays, Shark and Bill Fish.
Do I have to fish all the time?
NO - the event runs for (8) days and you can fish for one day or all eight. We have encompassed a full weekend so those local people who can't get the time off work can still participate during the 1st full weekend and still be apart of the grand finale, as we finish the following saturday. You don't even have to catch a fish or fish for that matter to have a chance at the major prizes.
What are Kids Day, Veterans Day & Ladies Day?
Kids Day is on the 1st Sunday of the event, 24th July. Jumping Castles, face painting and balloons are all free for the kids after 3:00pm. Every child on the day entered into the competition will receive a gift bag.
Veterans Day is on Tuesday the 26th July. Competitiors over the age of 60, "Veteran classification" are able to compete against each other with the opportunity to win species 1st & 2nd prizes in addition to the open competition species 1st and 2nd prizes. "Double the chance".
Ladies Day is on Thursday the 28th July. All women in the adult classification are able to compete against each other with the opportunity to win species 1st & 2nd prizes in addition to the open competition species 1st and 2nd prizes. "Double the chance". Also the Bitchy Chix have an open invitation to all women entered into the event to join them on the front beach for a "Bitchin & Fishin with the Chix" drinks & nibbles. The Bitchy Chix Marquee will be set up on the front beach from 9:00am - 1:00pm. BYO chair, drinks and sense of humor.
Where can we stay?
Rainbow Beach can cater to everybodies needs and budget requirements. You can stay in any of the resorts, motels, caravan parks, rent a house or even just camp in the mirrid of pristine camping areas running up and down the immediate coastline.
Can I go out on a Fishing charter or Hire a boat?
Yes most definately! All you need to do is book ahead and get yourself on one. Provided all the rules are followed then there is no problem. We have Fishing Charter operators details listed as links on our pages. OR you can HIRE a SELF DRIVE boat available for recreational or commercial purposes. Whether it's deep sea or smooth water fishing, scuba diving, water sking or sightseeing.
